Quiet Bellows (2026) by Kalle Moberg

17.03.2026

Kalle Moberg performs Quiet Bellows (2026), a short and delicate work inspired by, and faintly echoing, François Couperin’s ‘Prélude en fa majeur’ from L’Art de toucher le clavecin.

The piece unfolds through a palette of extended techniques drawn from Moberg’s research – phantom fundamentals, aperture pitch bending, stratified interference beating, split-tone multiphonics, flexible microtonality, friction tones, and polytimbrality – revealing the instrument’s subtle, breathing complexity.

This work emerges from Moberg’s research project Extended Expectations – exploring the accordion's organic potential through novel instrumental techniques and non-linear free-reed phenomena, undertaken at the Norwegian Academy of Music (2021–2026).

Filmed and edited by Andreas Sætre at Saetre Media on 17.03.2026.

I Had Wanted a Quiet Testament

01.02.2025

I Had Wanted a Quiet Testament (2024) by Jonas Lie Skaarud

This video offers a glimpse into the composer’s world — excerpts from the work intertwined with interviews where Skaarud reflects on his creative process, inspirations, and artistic values. Inspired by Guillaume de Machaut’s Kyrie from Messe de Nostre Dame (ca. 1360) and Ensemble Organum’s Corsican interpretation, Skaarud reimagines medieval sound through the lens of contemporary extended techniques. The result is music that hovers between eras — rough yet ethereal, static yet vibrating with quiet intensity. Through close collaboration with Moberg and Thelin, I Had Wanted a Quiet Testament becomes not just a piece for two instruments, but forms a breathing “super-instrument.”
